Wakefield Trinity Community Foundation is delighted to confirm that we have raised over £3200 so far through Walk With Wakey.
Following a strenuous 8.2 mile hike, 25 walkers completed the journey in just over three hours, raising an incredible amount of funds to support the Foundation’s ongoing work in the community as well as MY Hospitals Charity and their continued work with the Children’s Ward at Pinderfields Hospital.
From Foundation staff to our Trinity X Dance Squad to supporters of the club, we were supported tremendously throughout the event, with an incredible number of participants signing up to take part in the expedition for the first time in over two years.
Starting from our newly-signed partner, Starbucks Doncaster Road, walkers were all issued with a Walking Pack, Match Ticket, Route Map & a bottle of water as we set off at 4pm sharp ready for the long trip.
As we continued the hike across West Yorkshire, the support was flooding in, with the Just Giving Page donations page skyrocketing thanks to our wonderful donors. Following two stops at the Hark To Mopsey in Normanton & The Rising Sun Pub just outside Castleford, we took on the last leg of our journey, finally reaching the Mend-A-Hose Jungle just shy of 7:15pm.
As previously mentioned, all of the money raised from Walk with Wakey will now be split between the Foundation & our community projects, which includes the support of our Education, Health & Wellbeing and Rugby League programmes as well as our emerging teams as they look for success in 2023.
The remaining half will be sent over to MY Hospitals Charity & the continued great work that they do with the Children’s Ward at Pinderfields Hospital, hoping to help them support the ones who need it most of all.
Speaking on the event, the Foundation’s Media & Commercial Executive, William Moore, said, “To raise over £3200 and be supported by over 25 participants is incredible to see & shows what the club and its fanbase is all about.
“The money raised will go straight to some great causes, with the support of the Wakefield people and its community at the utmost importance to us. Myself & Luke [Shale] hope everyone enjoyed the day.”
