Over the past couple of years we have been asked what payment methods we offer, traditionally we have only ever offered the standard payment methods; cash, cheque, bank transfer and credit / debit cards. This is usually what all independent retail bathroom showrooms offer – finance is something we have always thought could be ideal for our business and customers, but because it wasn’t ‘the norm’ within our sector of the industry we didn’t pursue it.
Not many customers have asked for finance, but recently I was asked by a friend of mine, ‘how many people do you think have a spare £8,000 to £12,000 laying around to invest in a quality bathroom’?. Sure people may have £3,000 to £5,000 to invest into the bathroom, but if they knew spending that little more could last them double the length of time would they finance it if it was offered to them? After all, the labour value to fit the goods is the same, it’s the quality of the materials from the leading manufacturers that costs more but simply last so much longer.
He also said people have pride and won’t ask for something like finance unless its offered to them, I thought about that for a moment and to be honest I think he’s right, would I feel comfortable asking, probably not and i’m quite outspoken!
So after having many discussions with friends, other business owners and many of our customers, we decided to look into this more and see what we need to do. Let me tell you, this has not been an easy process, we have done this the right way, we are now FCA approved and are authorised and regulated by the Financial conduct authority with registration number 831662. We are a credit broker, not a lender, and offer credit facilities from a panel of lenders; why is this good? This gives us the freedom to find you the the best possible rates, we aren’t tied in to one lender and depending on your circumstances can offer the best finance package for you. It would have been quite easy to team up with a retail finance company, but after lots of research the conversion rates and finance rates just are not good enough, I always ask myself the same question before making any decision, “would I be happy with that”? if the answer is NO then it’s simply not good enough for my customers either.
We will always be transparent with our customers and tell you exactly what we think is the best option available, without you we simply don’t have a business so we take every decision seriously and work closely with all parties involved.
