Trinity Walk partner with Community Trust for New Female Rugby League Programme.

Trinity Walk partner with Community Trust for new female rugby league programme.

We are delighted to announce that Trinity walk will be the main partner for our new female rugby league programme, Girl-Code13.

The programme will facilitate a collection and wide variety of developmental coaching sessions for female players around Wakefield, in schools and community clubs which will include the formation of new u12s and u14s girls rugby league teams in and around the city.

Lucy Grice, Trinity Walk’s Marketing Manager, said, “We are proud to be a partner for Wakefield Trinity’s Girl-Code13 programme to open up rugby to even more young girls. It’s a fabulous sport and something our city is good at, so it makes sense to back anything that helps drive up participation.

“Gone are the days when a sport was just the domain of men or women – young people should feel confident in trying their hand at anything they want. With rugby league being part of the fabric of our city, we hope more girls will get involved and Wakefield Trinity start to shape the stars of the future.”

Additional to the under 12s and 14s teams, we will also be launching a new Wakefield Trinity u16s girls team!

The Trinity u16 girls team will be based from our great Ambassador club; Sharlston Rovers, who will train alongside the Wakefield Trinity Ladies team on Monday and Wednesday evenings.

Wakefield Trinity Community Manager; James Stephenson said, “With the women and girls game gaining huge momentum recently, a growth programme for Wakefield was inevitable and with the RFL’s backing, Girl-Code13 is set to lay a sustainable foundation in ensuring that girls rugby league provides a fluent Pathway now from primary ages all the way through to open age with Wakefield Trinity Ladies.

“Sustainability is the key for Women and Girls rugby league. At present there is a handful of girls sections in the locality, but with the Girl-Code13 programme and also the interest already showing within schools through our SkyTry delivery, this will open the door for the next generation of female players  from our city to flourish”

James continued, “For Trinity Walk to be our main partner for this programme is a huge testament and we thank them for their kind sponsorship and look forward to growing a strong partnership over the coming years.”

Further details of open access training sessions are to be released shortly, in the meantime If you are aged 11 to 16, school years 6 to 11 and would like to start playing rugby league then please contact: James.stephenson@wakefieldtrinity.com
