Trinity v Giants Match Preview

Wakefield Trinity return to the Beaumont Legal Stadium this weekend as they take on Huddersfield Giants on Friday May 26, kick-off 8pm.

Trinity last faced Huddersfield back in February, in that game Wakefield came out just short with a 24-16 loss, Chris Chester’s men will be looking to make amends for the defeat at the John Smiths Stadium.

The hosts will take confidence from the fact that they beat Huddersfield in all three encounters last season, the highlight of those being a 28-16 win over the Giants in the Challenge Cup quarter finals.

Since the previous meeting, Huddersfield have struggled for form and went on a nine-match run without a win, but have since picked up impressive victories over Leeds and Catalans, the visitors will be looking for their third win in four games.

Trinity go into the game in fantastic form, winning their previous four fixtures, last weekend’s win against Widnes at Magic Weekend saw them climb up to fifth in the Super League table, something they will want to build on.

Head coach Chris Chester has named just one change to the squad that overcame Widnes last weekend. Mikey Sio is replaced by Ashley Gibson.

Huddersfield head coach Rick Stone has named an unchanged squad following their win over Catalan Dragons last week. New loan signing Martyn Ridyard stays in following an impressive debut
