Trinity Sail Past Dewsbury in Ladbrokes Challenge Cup

Trinity sailed through to the quarter-finals of the Ladbrokes Challenge Cup with a thrilling victory over Championship side Dewsbury Rams after four tries from winger Mason Caton-Brown sealed the fate.

It was a fantastic attacking display from Trinity throughout the 80 minutes with most of the play in Dewsbury’s half.

The first try of the game keep just after four minutes for Trinity, the pressure was too much for Dewsbury’s defence when Bill Tupou made a break down the field, he had Ashurst in support who then put Mason Caton-Brown through on the next play to get over.

After applying plenty a lot more pressure on the Dewsbury defence, Trinity soon got their second try of the evening when Liam Finn took the ball to the line before popping it over to Matty Ashurst, Finn was successful with adding the extras once more to put them 12-0 up.

Dewsbury had a couple of runs down field but their attempts were nothing to worry the Trinity defence who remained tight throughout the first half.

A wonderful individual try from Sam Williams who showcased great footwork to beat the Dewsbury defenders to go over in the right corner.

The third try came for Trinity with five minutes to go until half time, Bill Tupou got on the end of a Williams kick after he beat Dale Morton in the air, the winger twisted around to place the ball down.

Dewsbury got their first and only try of the game just after half time on 41 minutes when Aaron Brown took a short pass from Tom Hemingway.

Mason Caton-Brown who had an exception performance got his second of the game after racing 50m to cross under the posts after Arundel came up with a one-on-one ball steal.

Just before the 70 minute mark Trinity got two tries in quick concession, the first after Grix fired the ball out wide to find Bill Tupou to finish in the corner and extend Trinity’s lead, 36-6.

Another fantastic set from Trinity and great teamwork from Arundel, Tupou and Grix set Kyle Wood up over in the corner.

The game was well and truly sealed on 71 minutes when Mason Caton-Brown got his hat-trick. Minutes later the winger got his fourth after some great work from Arundel.
