Trinity Keep Top Four Dreams Alive

Trinity kept the top four dreams alive after a significant victory over Salford Red Devils at the AJ Bell Stadium with two tries coming from Tyler Randell on his debut.

The home side came out on the front foot in the opening five minutes scoring an early try but Trinity soon grew into the game to go 10 points ahead at half time.

Salford used their first set to push forward which proved costly for Trinity after Kopczak went over to the left of the posts after Wakefield’s defence were not strong enough to hold him off.

Some great play from Trinity after Jacob Miller was the first to react to his own grubber kick; Finn got the extras to put the score line back to level after 13 minutes.

Fantastic try from Joe Arundel to put Trinity into the lead for the first time in the game, the ball got spread out to the left and the centre finished in the corner.

This came after a great opportunity for Scott Grix in the opposite corner, however after almost being put into touch the fullback flicked the ball back in to keep the attack alive.

Trinity were penalised after David Fifita knocked on resulting in a scrum for Salford. On the next play, Greg Johnson went over in the right corner after the Trinity defence left a huge space for the winger to run through.

A mistake from the Salford defence lead to another try for Trinity, Miller reacted the quickest to get his second try of the game and Finn converted to put Trinity 18-12.

Trinity were awarded two penalties, the first came when Salford were penalised for a late shot and the second for the home side interfering, Finn kicked both to put Trinity 10 points ahead on 22-12 going in at half time.

The second half started just how the first ended with Trinity pushing forward and forcing Salford to make errors

The home side were penalised for a ball steal early on in the second half resulting in yet another penalty for Trinity, Finn once again got the two points.

An error from Salford 35m in their own half resulted in a Trinity scrum, Tyler Randell got on the back of the ball to get his first try in Trinity colours on his debut.

A great set from Trinity after Salford lost the ball deep in Wakefield’s half. A looping pass from Scott Grix found Bill Tupou on the left wing who got over.

Randell got his second try on 59 minutes; a fantastic show and go from the hooker fooled the Salford defence to dive over under the sticks.

A consolation try for Salford came after Tyrone McCarthy found space in the Trinity defence to get over.

A drop goal from Jacob Miller sealed the win for Trinity and ensure that top four spot for another week.
