Trinity appoint Jon Kelly as Head of S&C

Wakefield Trinity are delighted to welcome Jon Kelly to the club as Head of Strength & Conditioning!

Jon arrives at Trinity from Bradford Bulls and will link up with Willie Poching for a second time, having worked with the head coach previously at Salford Red Devils.

The new Trinity Head of S&C insisted that the opportunity to work at Wakefield and with Poching was one he was incredibly keen to take.

“I’m delighted to be on board at Wakefield and I am thoroughly enjoying my first few weeks at the club,” said Kelly.

“I’m particularly excited about the project we are building here at Trinity and I’m pleased to be a part of it. Willie is brilliant to work with, which I know from my time at Salford with him, and he’s very passionate in what he does which brings the best out of everyone.

“The players are all working extremely hard in the opening weeks of pre-season and have been great to work with since I joined the club. We’ll now continue the hard work and hopefully we can all enjoy a successful 2022 season.”

Wakefield Trinity Head Coach Willie Poching is delighted to welcome Jon to the coaching team saying: “I had the pleasure of working with Jon at Salford many years ago. Since we both left Salford, Jon has gained a lot of experience having worked under Brian McDermott at Toronto, going to Rugby Union for a spell and then more recently being at Bradford Bulls.

“I knew Jon would be a great fit for us here at the club and that has proven to be case already in these first few weeks. The players and staff have really bought in to Jon and he’s already playing a big role in what we’re trying to create here at Wakefield Trinity with his character and work ethic.”
