Trinity lost out to Hull FC on Sunday afternoon, as the Black and Whites condemned them to a 16-26 defeat, Emma Holley reports.
Trinity showed plenty of fight and had aimed to return to winning ways in front their home crowd, but it wasn’t to be, for Hull produced a burst of four tries in eleven minutes which ultimately sealed the win.
Despite this, Trinity were the first to open the scores through Ryan Hampshire, who sliced through the visitor’s defence from a scrum 30m out, to score beneath the sticks.
Trinity would then go on to concede a last tackle try however, which saw Marc Sneyd’s grubber cause all sorts of problems under the posts, and Bureta Faraimo managed to touch down.
Hull’s eleven minute spell would start from here, as Carlos Tumaivave intercepted a looping Trinity pass and sprinted away to score in the corner, despite Tyler Randell’s best efforts to chase him down.
Sneyd’s fancy footwork and side-step caught Trinity out once more, as he added his name to the list of FC try-scorers. A string of passes then saw Naulago cross in the corner, which saw Trinity on the wrong side of a 6-20 deficit at the interval.
Another Tumaivave interception sent Naulago racing away for his brace ten minutes into the second half, after numerous Trinity defenders had struggled to wrap him up.
But Trinity ensured they had the last say of the match however; first through Joe Arundel, who took in Escare’s pass to score. A kick to the inside from Hampshire on the wing was also timed perfectly for Miller to collect and touch down for a consolation try.
With better efforts showcased, Trinity’s focus now turns to their crucial clash with Hull Kingston Rovers next Sunday, where they will travel to the KCOM Craven Park Stadium, in hope of returning with a vital two points.
