Wakefield Trinity Community Trust announced their School Sports Partnership, known as SSP, in August with an official launch expected in January of 2019.
Over the last few months, together with branding partner and sponsor, Applied Creative Ltd, they have created an offer that will benefit the entire Wakefield district but particularly Teachers, support staff and pupils.
Premier League Primary Stars uses the appeal of the Premier League and professional football clubs to inspire children to learn, be active and develop important life skills. It is not been readily available within the Wakefield district, largely due to the lack of a local professional football club, until now.
The collaboration between Leeds United Foundation and Wakefield Trinity Community Trust will bring Premier League Primary Stars to Wakefield exclusively through the SSP offer that schools can access through their PE & School Sport Premium Funding.
Over 15,000 schools have enjoyed the programme nationwide since it began last year which inspires girls and boys aged 5-11 in the classroom, the playground and on the sports field.
Teaching materials cover subjects from English and Maths to teamwork and PE, with free to download activity ideas, worksheets, lesson plans, fun assemblies and exclusive videos.
Learning is connected to the real world of sport to enthuse pupils when tackling challenging PSHE topics such as resilience, diversity, self-esteem and fair-play.
Professional football club staff work with teachers to deliver fun, educational sessions in a range of subjects within local affiliate schools.
Premier League values underpin everything on offer, encouraging children to:
* Be ambitious – work hard and never give up on their goals
* Be inspiring – set a great example to others
* Be connected –work well with others and in a team
* Be fair – treat people equally and think of others
The easy to use resources, which link to the national curriculum, have been developed in partnership with primary school teachers and subject experts, such as the PSHE Association and National Literacy Trust.
Wakefield Trinity Community Trust, General Manager, Craig Shepherd said: “Both charities are extremely excited about working with each other’s partner brands of Wakefield Trinity and Leeds United.”
“When we designed the SSP offer available to schools we wanted to ensure we developed Teachers, valuable school support staff and above all, help pupils achieve and guide them towards a healthy lifestyle for life.”
“The inclusion of Premier League Primary Stars within our packages is an exciting announcement that speaks of our ethos and we are proud to be working with Leeds United Foundation over the next few years.”
