Last Thursday, our Community Department joined forces with the Ridings Shopping Centre and Trinity Ladies to promote Girls Rugby League as part of their #sistersport programme.
The programme was initially set up by Wakefield Express to increase the involvement of young women and girls in sport by holding numerous sporting events and challenges across half term.
It was a fantastic fun filled afternoon with over 50 individuals taking part in the rugby skills session run by Trinity Ladies and the club’s Community department before they were awarded with a ticket for the Salford fixture which takes place on March 12.
Community development officer Martyn Reilly said, “It was an extremely successful day and I am proud to be a part of such a growing sport.
It is very important to host events in our local community like this one as our ultimate goal is to get more female participants involved in different sports and live a more active lifestyle.
I would like to say a big thank you to our Trinity Ladies team for helping and as always our own community team for another fantastic and successful day. I hope all involved had a fantastic time and I look forward to seeing all the girls at the Salford game.”
