Wakefield Trinity Ladies’ forward, Libby Priestley, stated that she can’t wait for the 2022 Super League season to start as we travel to Leigh Miners Rangers in round one.
Coming into the side ahead of the new year, Priestley has soon found her feet at the Be Well Support Stadium, claiming two tries in her first three appearances in Red, White & Blue.
The hard-hitting prop has come on leaps and bounds in recent weeks, using her time in the Trinity side to make big in-roads in the opposition pack, something she has loved every minute of so far.
“I have settled into Wakefield great, everyone is amazing the coaches and everyone has made me feel so welcome.
“This week is all about preparing for our first game away at Leigh. The spirit is great no matter how hard we fall, we always get back up and everyone has each other’s back.
“That’s why we work great as a squad.”
Coming up out of the Championship in 2021, Leigh Miners are known for their tough defensive line, a pack that took them to the league title last season.
However, that doesn’t faze this Wakefield side, with Libby, and the rest of the squad, prepared for the game ahead.
“They [Leigh] do have a great defensive record.
“As a forward, the girls will look to do all they can to get the forwards down the middle. This will be really important come Sunday.”
A positive result in the season opener will stand Trinity in good stead for the rest of the 2022 campaign.
Leigh will not be an easy side to face in round one, though, and Priestley is looking forward to the challenge.
“A positive result will be amazing, but we will always keep our heads high and work for each other no matter what the result is.
“I have great hopes for us against Leigh, and I know everyone will put 110% effort in to achieve the outcome we get.”
