We are delighted to confirm the signing of Megan Preston for the 2022 season after signing for the club from Halifax Rugby Union.
Preston realised her Rugby League effectuation at the age of nine, after attending a Bradford Bulls game with her dad and brother, before buying a season ticket over the next few seasons.
After a few years of being obsessed with the 13-a-side code, it was Rugby Union that offered Preston her first real chance of playing the sport, joining the university side whilst studying for her degree.
With a good few years under her belt, Preston joined Halifax RFU before making the switch, once again to join Trinity, where she is loving every second.
“I am absolutely over the moon to sign for Wakefield. They’ve always been a big club to me, especially when I was growing up watching the men’s game,” she explained.
“I actually watched Wakefield play a couple of times last season, so I knew a bit about the squad.
“Ash had seen what I’d been doing at Halifax and got in touch with me and asked me to come down for a training session, which I was buzzing about, to be honest.
“I knew after that first training session that Wakefield was the perfect fit for me; the coaching staff were amazing, the girls were so welcoming, the squads aims for next season, everything was just right about it.”
Megan will hope to make her mark in the Trinity squad when the side travel to Hull KR for the first pre-season friendly tomorrow as we gear up for a positive 2022.
