Since the start of 2022, the Community Foundation has been working very hard to serve our community. I have been in a position now as Head of Foundation since 1st November 2021, and we are happy with the progress we are making.
Within the Foundation, we work across three distinct departments, NCS & Education, Rugby League and Health, Wellbeing and Inclusion.
Within our education department, we work across 15 schools every week, delivering PE lessons and also delivering CPD for teachers to upskill and improve their ability to deliver PE and Sport Sessions. A new addition to the Education department is our Inspiring Futures programme, which started in February. This provision is aimed at those young people in secondary school, who are at risk of being excluded and using the power of sport and exercise to re-engage in school activities and avoid expulsion.
Throughout our Rugby League department, we have been very busy, over the last term we have been delivering in 18 primary schools, which will culminate in a series of summer festivals and also pre-game events.
We are also extremely proud of our teams. The women’s team have made a really positive start to the season, the PDRL and LDRL season is about to get underway as we wish all our trinity teams every success throughout the season.
February also saw the revamp of our Trinity DNA programme, seeing over 100 males and females, aged 12 to 16, engaging in our Rugby League development days.
Our Health, Wellbeing and Inclusion team have also been extremely busy launching new and exciting programmes including, Back to Exercise, Get Fit with Trin, and Walking Rugby. Our health and wellbeing programmes engage all members of the community from the ages of five to 80.
As a club and Foundation, we have inclusion at the heart of everything we do and want to lead the way on this.
We are ambitious to seek constant improvement and become one of the leading Sports Foundations in the country, whilst working towards the following principles:
‘Using the power of sport and physical activity to improve the lives of those within our community. To be at the heart of the community, adaptable and responsive to the local needs, ensuring our projects are inclusive, sustainable and leave a legacy.’
