The Wakefield Trinity Community Foundation can announce that they have secured an Open to All grant to deliver NCS (National Citizen Service) Community Experiences across West Yorkshire until March 2025.
The experiences will engage 2,456 young people aged 15 (who are already in Year 11) to 17 free-of-charge across the county, with the Foundation receiving funding to run experiences across a two-year period, supplemented by additional funds in the form of free venues supplied by the Foundation, with supported travel for participants supplied by Northern Rail.
We will co-deliver on the project via a consortium made up of Bradford City Community Foundation, and the Leeds United Foundation.
Mark Gifford, CEO of NCS Trust, said, “I am delighted to welcome a diverse range of local, grassroots and community organisations from across the youth sector to deliver reimagined NCS experiences.
“This allows us to reach more young people than ever before, ensuring they are equipped with the skills and perspective to become work ready and world ready. Additionally, our grants for targeted experiences will enable us to reach underserved young people and communities.”
While, Luke Shale, Head of Operations at the WTCF, continued: “We are so happy to have secured the NCS grant, allowing us to bring more experience opportunities to the young people of Wakefield.
Having had several very successful years delivering NCS previously, we can’t wait to get going with delivery which starts in just a few weeks’ time. Youth empowerment is vital to the work we at the Wakefield Trinity Community Foundation and our partners do. We are grateful to the NCS Trust and our new partners at Bradford City and Leeds United for their continued work in supporting the empowerment and development of the young people we strive to engage within our community.”
Head of the Wakefield Trinity Community Foundation, Mark Brennan, is also excited that NCS will return to West Yorkshire, explaining, “This is fantastic news, not just for the Foundation and club, but also the young people within Wakefield. This is about giving them opportunities to develop lifelong skills and to work with Bradford City and Leeds United on this shows our ambition as a Foundation.
We are always looking to develop and vary our offer to meet the needs of the community we serve, and this will be our vision, which this project over the next two years will support.”
We are now inviting any interested parties to contact us for more information on the NCS experience on offer. Please email our Youth Engagement Lead – Mason – mason.atkinson@wakefieldtrinity.com for more information.
Our hope is that these experiences encourage participants to connect with their peers, create and develop new sets of skills, and inspire positive change in their communities. More information can be found at www.bradfordcitycf.org.uk/ncs.
