Luke Gale will leave Wakefield Trinity to join another Betfred Super League team in a First Team Coaching role.
Gale joined Trinity midway through the 2023 season and went on to play 35 games across two seasons with the club. He was a key part of the Betfred Championship treble winning side and won the Ray French Award at Wembley following Wakefield’s 1895 Cup victory.
Following the 2024 season, Gale chose to hang up his playing boots and head into coaching.
Over the past 12 months, the 37-year old has been Head Coach of Trinity’s Academy side while also spending time in the First Team set up.
On his departure, Luke Gale said: “I’d like to thank everyone at Wakefield Trinity for the last few years. From my time as a player then coach it’s been a privilege to be part of the club’s rebuild.
I wish Matt and his family and Daryl and his team nothing but success in the future and I’ll always look back on my time with Wakefield with gratitude and pride.”
Director of Rugby Ste Mills said: “As much disappointment we have in losing Luke, we wish him all the best in his next role. He will be a great asset for them & we look forward to watching him continue on his Rugby League coaching journey.”
