Wakefield Trinity are delighted to announce that Lee Kershaw has signed a two-year deal to remain in the Red, White & Blue!
Kershaw, 22, was one of Trinity’s standout performers in 2021 and made 19 appearances across the campaign.
The winger made his debut for the club in 2019, when he earned Man of the Match and crossed for a try against Leeds Rhinos. However, Kershaw’s breakthrough season was in 2021, scoring five tries and making 2149 metres.
Despite an enjoyable year on the whole, an ACL injury picked up in our penultimate game of the 2021 season means Kershaw will be sidelined for a lengthy period, but the youngster will be attacking his recovery at ‘full throttle’.
“I would like to say a huge thank you to the club for showing their faith in me with this deal,” said Kershaw.
“Obviously, it wasn’t a great end to the season for me picking up the injury, but I feel like I have shown what I can do and with a two-year extension, I’ve got plenty of time to get back fully fit and prove myself again.
“I have plenty of hard work ahead of me in my road to recovery, but it’s a challenge I’m going full throttle at.
“I love playing for this club and I’m already looking forward to pulling that jersey on again.”
Trinity Head Coach Willie Poching added: “It’s fantastic news that we are able to secure Lee’s signature.
“He’s another of our homegrown talents and he showed this year that he has some great football ahead of him.
“His progression through his performances in 2021 put him in the company of some of our most consistent performers and we look forward to Lee recovering from his injury and coming back stronger, faster and even better for us.”
