In February 2007 the then ‘Wakefield Wildcats’ was awarded charitable status, the community department was transformed and became ‘Wakefield Wildcats Community Trust’ – registered Charity 1119077.
10 years later and the now award winning ‘Wakefield Community Trust’ have endured numerous challenges and successes over the years and we are steadily re-growing to be able to further support the wider Wakefield community.
To mark the 10 year anniversary we are looking to hold a series of fundraising activities throughout 2017 to help raise a further £10k for the Community Trust.
Head of Community, James Stephenson said, “During the last ten years the Trust has been able to deliver a variety of community programmes, some that are award winning, for the people of Wakefield. Funding is vital to ensure that we can continue delivering programmes out within our community.
“It is never given that we will receive grants and it is becoming more and more difficult to secure these funds. If we can try and raise additional money through a series of fundraising activities then we will be in a stronger position to be able to offer more quality services within our community. We would love for anyone with fundraising ideas to contact us and hopefully help raise some much needed funds for our charity, I’m really looking forward to what our future holds and the next ten years!”
We are looking for six to 10 passionate individuals to join our new fundraising committee here at the club to help raise money for the community trust and other charities. The role would be on a voluntary basis and you would be required to attend meetings which will be held once a month here at Belle Vue Stadium.
If you would like to express your interest in joining the committee, please contact James Stephenson on 01924 211611 (option 3) or email [email protected]
