Gwaze Signs On The Dotted Line

We are pleased to announce the signing of 19-year-old Zimbabwean born Titus Tendei Gwaze on a one -year contract to the First team.

Titus is a product of the successful Halifax Elite Rugby Academy who play in the National Premier League in the college competition. Gwaze first caught the eye of Head of Youth Mark Applegarth 12 months ago when Wakefield’s Category 3 side found out first-hand about Gwaze’s all action approach to Rugby League.

Mark Applegarth said, “We played Halifax in a league game with our Cat 3 team and this kid from Halifax ran the ball in like a cannon ball all game long and tackled anything that moved.

“I asked his coaches if he was attached to anywhere and they said no so I invited him down to training for six weeks, so we could have a closer look at him. The thing that stands out about Titus is his desire to improve every session and obviously how he plays the game.

“He runs in at 100mph every carry and works hard for 80 mins. He’s done it tough and trained for six months off his own back whilst we got the relevant paperwork sorted, I’m really pleased for him to be given this opportunity and the hard work starts now. His first challenge will be adapting to a first team environment and then trying to impress the coaching staff and get an opportunity to play Super League, it’s a challenge I know Titus is relishing and I know he will give it everything he has got”.
