Grady delighted with England inclusion

Trinity youngster, Becky Grady, admitted that she has taken “a step forward” to pursue her dreams as she is selected for England Student’s set-up.

The halfback, who has been at the club for several years, has been an ever-reliable presence in the Wakefield squad”, with an international call-up coming at a good time.

Developing from young has been a philosophy the club has taken on over the past few years, with both the men’s and women’s sides putting a big emphasis on youth and Grady is excited to expand her skills on the main stage.

“I was really excited [when I found out I had been selected],” Grady explained.

“I wasn’t sure what to expect because there were so many talented players at the trials, but when I found out, I was so happy.

“I was involved in the student’s team two years ago and it was such a great experience, but I think the standard will be so much higher this year, so I am looking forward to getting started.”

Taking a step onto the centre stage through the international game is every player’s dream, however, for Becky, it is all about goals and this is just another box checked off.

“My dream was, and still is, to be the best I can be and to go as far as I can in the sport.

“I want to keep pushing as far as I can for as long as I can.

“Getting selected for an international set-up is a step towards these goals”

Utilising the skill and knowledge picked up over the past few years, Grady is pleased to have a coaching staff with so much belief in their side, referencing the hard work that goes in on the training pitch week-in week-out.

“The staff and my teammates at Wakefield are constantly pushing me to be my best.

“Playing at the highest level last year taught me so many things, both physically and mentally.

“The club is so supportive, and I am very proud to be representing Wakefield Trinity at England Students. “
