Giants v Trinity Match Preview

24th February, 2017

Wakefield Trinity will make the short journey to local rivals Huddersfield Giants for our first away fixture of the 2017 Betfred Super League season this evening, kick-off 8pm.

Chris Chester has named an unchanged side to face the Giants at The John Smith’s Stadium. Both Anthony England and Matty Ashurst have passed fitness tests to be named in the 19-man squad after suffering head injuries in the opening round against Hull FC.

Giants Head Coach, Rick Stone has made only one change to his 19-man squad with Tyler Dickinson coming in to replace the injured Michael Lawrence.

Chester will be looking at getting his first win of the 2017 campaign after the frustrating defeat to Hull FC 12 days ago. Trinity go into tonight’s fixture on the back of a longer turnaround after the World Club Series resulted in no fixtures last weekend. Giants will be eager to get back to winning ways after suffering at the hands of Salford Red Devils at The John Smith’s Stadium last weekend.

Trinity come out on top in previous meetings with the Giants after victories in both league fixtures last season and beating our local rivals in the Challenge Cup Quarter-Final back in June.
