Foundation delivers 300 free tickets to schools

Wakefield Trinity Community Foundation will use our link with schools in the district to deliver free tickets to pupils ahead of Reece Lyne’s testimonial in January.

An ever-present figure in Trinity’s team for the past 10 years, Reece has made over 200 appearances in Red, White & Blue, making his Wakefield debut in 2012. Now, to celebrate a decade of service to the club, Lyne and his Trinity side will face Halifax Panthers on Sunday, 15th January.

With this in mind, we are now distributing over 300 tickets to schools across the district to allow pupils the opportunity to watch Trinity ahead of the start of the 2023 season.

Over the next week, our Rugby League and PE staff will start handing out tickets in Normanton Junior, Ledger Lane, St John the Baptists, Lawfield Lane and Park Hill to celebrate the growth of the sport across our schools’ network.

Speaking on the initiative, Head of Education & Health, Luke Shale, said, “We are delighted to be offering free tickets to schools ahead of Reece Lyne’s testimonial next year.

“It is really important to us to grow the game and push the club to the younger generation, and we hope to see as many faces there as possible.”

While, Head of Foundation, Mark Brennan, followed, “As our Rugby League provision continues to grow, we are delighted to be in a position to offer this as part of Reece’s testimonial year.

“He has been a fantastic servant to the club over the past 10 years, and we are fortunate to be in a position to offer these tickets as part of our programme in schools.

“It will be a special day, and I hope all the young fans coming to watch the club for the first time really enjoy themselves.”
