Community Trust Pair with Team Activ

The Community Trust have partnered with the highly recommended Team Activ to assist in the delivery of various projects in the local communities.

Based in Barnsley, Team Activ work across 24 different sports and deliver high standard PE provision across South and West Yorkshire.

Craig Shepherd, General Manager of the Wakefield Trinity Community Trust, said, “We are delighted to be able to work in conjunction with Team Activ. They have a superb relationship with schools all over Yorkshire.

“Our Sky Try programme has a target of over 6,000 children that will receive coaching and with a small team we were facing an uphill task to achieve those indicators. Our collaboration with Team Activ will see a greater number of schools in both Wakefield and Barnsley receive coaching provision. We are excited about what we can achieve together.”

Part of the agreement will see the SKY game against Wigan Warriors become a Team Activ Festival, on field, pre-game. Invitations to local schools in Wakefield and Barnsley will introduce new people to the sport of Rugby League or, at the very least, to a big game atmosphere at a Super League fixture.

James Stephenson, Community Manager added, “We recently held a CPD session with around ten Team Activ coaches at Shaw Lane, Barnsley. They were very receptive to learning and we covered a lot of ground. I’m confident they will represent the Wakefield Trinity brand very positively indeed.”
