Community Rugby League Officer (11-19)
A Community Rugby League Officer (11-19) at the WTCF will report directly to the Community Rugby League Manager and will have an active involvement in our Rugby League Provision, delivering a number of high quality sessions each day, including schools, colleges, and in house delivery.
A Community Rugby League Officer (11-19) will work closely with the Head of Foundation & Community Rugby League Manager to make sure all aspects of delivery are run to the highest of standards. They will also need to have a positive working relationship with key stakeholders, including schools, colleges, community clubs & volunteers to grow the game of Rugby League in the Wakefield District.
Key Responsibilities
• Enhance, develop and implement teachers and students knowledge, skills and confidence to improve provision of PE and Rugby League at a given school or college. All sessions delivered must be specific to the group in question.
• Create, develop and update detailed reporting on each school.
• Design and implement specific Rugby League sessions dependant on the school or colleges requirements. Outlining any feedback to the Head of Foundation & the Community Rugby League Manager.
• Build, develop and maintain relationships with current and new schools, link in regularly with PE leads and Head teachers to book in new sessions, gain feedback and improve provision.
• Support and develop all of our community clubs (male & female) to ensure they are self-sustainable and have growing playing numbers across all U12 – U18 teams in the Wakefield District. Create well organised, safe and inclusive environments for long lasting involvement in our sport.
• Increase students enjoyment, participation and skills in competitive and non-competitive Rugby League and other physical activities.
• Work alongside the Foundation’s Youth Department to deliver Rugby League specific intervention sessions in high schools across the District.
• Lead on the recruitment and delivery of the female playing offer in Wakefield. Offering fluid pathways for players and coaches to support the growth of the female game to young people aged 11-19 years.
• Work alongside schools in the Wakefield District to offer all formats of high school Rugby League, in line with the RFL Strategy (Inspired by 9’s, Champion Schools, internal festivals and gameday experiences).
• Deliver age and gender specific CPD with local volunteers around Rugby League planning philosophy and delivery.
• Support on all other Rugby League activity provided by the Wakefield Trinity Community Foundation.
• Signpost participants to sustainable projects either internally or externally.
• Ensure safeguarding/child protection/vulnerable adults policies are adhered to at all times.
Requirements
Essential
• Relevant Rugby League coaching experience in a professional organisation.
• Rugby League Level 2 Coaching Qualification (or working towards).
• Previous experience working with young people or in an educational environment.
• Experience working towards, or implementing a Curriculum.
• A full UK driving licence and own vehicle.
• A full, clean enhanced DBS Check.
Desirable
• Mental Health qualification or experience.
• A Sport related Degree.
• PGCE or Qualified Teacher Status, or willingness to work towards in a specific timeframe.
• x1 NGB Level 2 Coaching Qualification.
• Safeguarding Qualifications.
• First Aid Qualification.
• Experience coaching or playing professional Rugby League.
• Experience working with female athletes.
