Lyne Secures New Deal At Trinity

12th August 2018

Reece Lyne puts pen to paper on a new four and half year deal at Wakefield Trinity.

The 25 year old joined Trinity back in 2012 from Super League side Hull FC on a three-year deal and has since gone on to make 128 appearances and scored 44 tries in the red, white and blue jersey.

2018, saw Reece Lyne being called up to the England Knights squad.

Reece Lyne spoke of his delight to remain at Trinity, “The club approached me a few months back to talk about a contract extension and I am really enjoying my time here so it was a no brainer.

“It will be a real honour to represent the Club for 10 years and to get a testimonial at the end of it will be really rewarding.”

Head Coach Chris Chester commented, “It is great news for Reece and the Club, he has been fantastic for us this year. He is happy here and very settled at the Club and I look forward to working with him for the next three or four years.”

Chairman Michael Carter added, “I’m delighted that Reece is the latest of our young players to commit to the Club long term. 10 years ago this Club lost a young Ryan Atkins to a bigger club, despite genuine interest from elsewhere with better offers, Reece has committed to stay here for the next four and a half years. I think that shows where we are as a Club these days.

“He’s made the England Knights squad and will still get better. At the end of this deal he will have completed 10 years at the Club and will get a well deserved testimonial. I cannot remember the last player to complete 10 straight years in Super League like Reece has. He is also a genuinely great man and I look forward to watching him for Wakefield for many years to come.”
