Trinity forward Mitch Allgood is excited for the start of the Betfred Super League season when Hull FC visit the Beaumont Legal Stadium on Sunday.
Allgood, who arrived from Hull Kingston Rovers in the off-season, could make his Wakefield debut on Sunday afternoon.
Speaking to the Trinity Media Team, the 27-year-old expressed his determination to get going.
“It’s the fun part now, it’s time to do business,” said Allgood.
“It’s been a long pre-season but one I’ve really enjoyed. The transition for me has been pretty easy to be honest, all the players here have been really welcoming. We’ve put a massive amount of work in at training over these last few months and it’s all coming together. It’s time for the exciting part now, we’re all focused on Sunday and just raring to go.
“We’re all aware that it will be a tough game against Hull FC, they’re a top quality outfit. But having said that, we’re at home, we’ve got a lot of confidence in our own ability and we’ll definitely be giving our all to get the two points.”
Allgood played under Head Coach Chris Chester at Hull KR and is delighted to be reunited this season. However, the addition of John Kear to the Trinity coaching staff is one that Allgood is massively impressed with.
“It’s obviously great to be back with Chris. I enjoyed playing under him at Hull KR and the opportunity to team up with him again this season is one that excites me.
“As for John, he’s got a very good insight into the game. He sees things differently and that’s a very good asset to have in the coaching staff. His attention to detail is something I’ve been learning a lot from also, so for me he’s been a fantastic addition.”
Allgood is one of seven new faces to join Trinity’s squad for 2017 and with the likes of Kyle Wood and Craig Huby signed up, the number 10 believes the squad is capable of big things moving forward.
“I think we’ve got an outstanding squad. There’s competition all over the park – you only have to look at the middles and you can see the depth we have in there. They’re all quality players too, I’ve been really impressed by all of them.
“Hopefully we can go far this season and improve on last seasons finish. I believe we have all the qualities to do that, so now it’s time to show it.
“I really can’t wait to get started on Sunday in front of the home fans. I’ve no doubt that they’ll be loud and proud, hopefully cheering us on to a victory.”
